I didn't use the cup holder because I didn't want to take chances of it spilling.

Two tips: I use a small horizontal pan organizer by my bedside to keep this tray as well as a laptop cooling fan handy.

I fold it up and keep it under the end table next to the couch, very convenient.

I already have a twin bed here at home so if you college students are worried about it taking up too much space when you want to sit in bed and study or something, trust me, it doesn't take up a lot of room so you're good.
